Nendo's Curvy Glass Is Designed To Offer 3 Different "Mouthfeels" When Drinking Sapporo

Japanese design studio Nendo has developed a beer glass specifically designed to enhance the experience of drinking Sapporo. The glass is described as having three separate “mouthfeels” to properly accommodate the beer’s complex flavor profile.

In terms of design, that translates to the glass having a straight front and back – typical of a drinking glass – while the left side curves inward and the right side curves outward.

Nendo says that the straight side will deliver beer from one’s tongue trickling into their throat, whereas the left side will offer a greater sense of Sapporo’s aroma. The right side hits directly into the center of the tongue.

“Kubo Label is well recognized for its multiple distinct flavor profiles, beginning with the ‘first sip,’ the ‘middle’ and ending with the ‘last sip,’ taking your palate through a journey of complex flavors and pleasures in one drink. To maximize the richness and aroma of the beer, a glass with three different mouthfeels was designed.”

Sapporo is hailed as Japan’s oldest beer and although the glass isn’t up for sale yet, there are surely some diehard fans waiting to try it out for themselves.
