Continuing its push for sustainability, The Coca-Cola Company has announced that it will be rolling out new bottles constructed of 100-percent recycled plastic material for many of its beverage lines in the United States.
According to Coca-Cola, the reduced 13.2-ounce bottles for Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero and Sprite coming this month in the Northeast, Florida and California are apparently “more sippable.” California, Texas and New York will also see 20-ounce Coke bottles, and Smartwater will receive new reusable aluminum 18-ounce bottles in California and Florida. The 100-percent recycled material 13.2-ounce bottles will be available all throughout the nation by this summer. It is also interesting to note that Sprite will be transitioning to all clear packaging by the end of 2022.
The efforts outlined above are just the latest in Coca-Cola Company’s ambitious goal to collect and recycle the equivalent of every bottle or can it sells globally by 2030. The “World Without Waste” plan is a renewed focus on the entire packaging lifecycle and would stand as an industry first.
