The Coca Cola x A Bathing Ape BAPESTA are the latest collaborative footwear model to drop from the legendary Japanese streetwear label, and they’re certainly head-turners! While BAPE are no strangers to wild collaborations (they’ve teamed up with Spongebob Squarepants, Minions and Dragon Ball Z to name but a few), these are certainly one of the crazier-looking pairs out there!
A Bathing Ape was founded by Nigo in 1993, and has since become one of the most highly-coveted labels in the history of streetwear. While Nigo is no longer at the helm of the label, it remains as culturally relevant as it was back then.
Two colorways have been unveiled so far, a white on red and a red on white, both channeling Coca Cola’s instantly-recognisable branding. Crafted from premium leather throughout, the legendary logo can be found embroidered onto the lateral side of each shoe, while the medials showcase BAPE’s signature star logo.
Classic details such as the perforated toe box and padded ankles are borrowed from the design of the Nike Air Force 1, the shoe which the BAPESTA was closely modelled on. A chunky white midsole finishes off the look neatly alongside a vintage glass bottle coke lid bearing the label’s iconic Ape Head logo.
